Claire and Jase Sittin’ in a Tree

Filed under: Photography — candid reflections @ 2:08 pm

An apple tree that is!  I believe that is literally what they will be doing for a while  as it is near harvesting time on the huge family owned apple orchard of which Claire and Jase have the pleasure in staking out a corner to make their first home.  They’ll be picking apples from the very trees that they recently stood amongst and promised the rest of their days to each other.  The backdrop could not have been more beautiful for their wedding day – delightful grounds with cultivated spaces and nooks, climbing flower covered arbors, splashes of brilliant colors beautifully landscaped over several years by Jase’s parents… a definite treat to the soul!  I thoroughly enjoyed my time recording Claire and Jase’s day, witnessing first-hand the sparkle in his eye whenever she was on his arm, or the way her smile stretched a mile longer than normal whenever he was near.  Jase and Claire’s love is the kind of love that I could never tire of documenting.  Thanks for the honor you two!

Not only was Claire an absolutely stunning bride, she was a busy bride!  Claire baked and decorated this beautiful wedding cake from scratch, as well as helped in preparing the meal for their wedding guests – which I heard declared as absolutely delicious many times throughout dinner. She’s simply amazing, I tell you!

Rachel + Matthew : A Beautiful Country Wedding

Filed under: Photo Sessions, Photography — candid reflections @ 12:00 pm

I have recently had the distinct pleasure of photographing Rachel and Matt’s beautiful outdoor wedding.   The celebration, which took place on a gorgeous summer day, was cast in the serenely picturesque backyard of Matt’s childhood home.   Guests were seated on a manicured patch of green grass, shaded by a canopy of moss-covered trees, and serenaded by the rippling Solduck River as they witnessed Matt and Rachel’s  profession of love for one another and exchange of vows.

Rachel and Matt chose to see each other before the ceremony so I was able to capture a few intimate moments between them that they would not have had time to experience during the ceremony.   The first look (and the pictures that follow) is always my favorite part of the day!

Gorgeous!

I love that Matt and Rachel’s little Jack Russell Terrier was the first to congratulate the newly married couple, after all, they ARE his people!

Thanks so much Rachel & Matt and Pete & Molly for the honor of being a part of this wonderous day!

A Wedding On the Beach

Filed under: Photo Sessions — candid reflections @ 2:39 pm

Jason and Whitnie’s wedding took place at the beach earlier this month.  They originally planned for an outdoor ceremony but the weather didn’t exactly cooperate.  Luckily, they had rented a beautiful white tent which was just big enough to shelter all their guests who were there to celebrate with them.   They also hired the very talented sisters, Bobbie and Georgia, of Two Sisters PlanningOh, how I love to photograph venues decorated by Georgia and Bobbie!  Beside sporadic periods of drizzle,  it was a great day… a beautiful venue,  a fun-filled walk along the beach, with two young and adventurous hearts joined in love.  Thank you for the honor of photographing your day Whitnie and Jason, you were so great to play on the beach with me …can’t wait to show you the sea-weed whip pictures! 😉   And Whitnie, you jumped into the pool!!!  Could you be any more FUN?!!  Many blessings to you and your scrumptious, adorable little Kyle.

Whitnie did such a good job of keeping her dress clean, despite the damp weather and the outdoor setting.  By the time the reception was winding down though, it was apparent that a dirty dress was becoming inevitable.  After tossing her boquet, she decided to “let her hair down” and head down by the waves to have a bit of fun.

Then for the finale!   ….. why not!

Vacationing at the Beach

Filed under: Photo Sessions — candid reflections @ 9:17 am

I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family from Texas while they were vacationing at a local beach recently.  Three sisters, their parents, and their families – they were such a great group to work with!  After some formal shots of the whole family we took some candids of the cousins.  We got some fun shots and I sure loved watching the connections they shared with one another.  Although the weather wasn’t exactly favorable while they were here, something tells me this family just knows how to make the best of things – I’ll bet they had a wonderful time together.  Thanks for the opportunity to photograph your time together guys, Seth and I truly enjoyed the pleasure of meeting and working with y’all!   Here are some shots from our session that I hope you’ll enjoy!

Megan + Andrew … nestled in a grove of pines

Filed under: Photo Sessions — candid reflections @ 7:40 pm

Megan and Andrew had a beautiful outdoor wedding and they chose to meet right before the ceremony for a private moment together.  Their first glance could not have been more romantic, nestled in a grove of pines… anticipation and expectation were met by true affection and pure delight.  On top of all of this…. I got to be there, capturing it all with my camera!  Oh how I love that first moment shared between a man and his new bride!

Oliver ~ Two Month Baby Photo Session

Filed under: Photo Sessions — candid reflections @ 1:35 pm

Introducing Oliver, the most adorable little cutie-pa-tootie of whom I had the honor of photographing recently.  Oliver is practically family, you know!  His mom and I have known each other since infancy, our moms having been best friends since their own childhood.  I had so much fun editing Oliver’s pictures, and not without thoughts like, “This is sooo his grandma’s expression!”  or  “He definitely has his grandpa’s eyes,”  running through my mind.  Such fun, love this little guy!

Wedding Photography : Leah + Greg

Filed under: Photography — candid reflections @ 5:30 am

I met Leah and Greg one year ago  this month.  Leah called me from North Carolina last year to arrange an engagement photo session , a friend had recommended my photography.  So last May,while they were visiting family and making arrangements for their upcoming wedding, they squeezed in a photo session with moi!  Leah and Greg are such a fun couple, we hit it off instantly!  Being as they are super photogenic and just plain fun to be around, I was feeling pretty thrilled when I learned that I’d have the honor of another photo session  with them this past winter, before the wedding! (The wedding package they selected included an engagement session)  I love it when I get to spend time getting to know a couple before their wedding, I feel like I’m able to get a better feel for who they are, which helps in my attempts to capture their wedding day in a way that truly reflects them.    But now that the wedding’s all done, and Leah and Greg are home safe and sound on the other side of the country, I’m kind of starting to miss them!  Hey guys, maybe we could bump up that newborn photo session by a few years?  he he he 😉

I love how my job provides opportunities to meet and work with so many great  people!

Leah + Greg : The Details

Filed under: Photography — candid reflections @ 9:18 pm

Greg wrote Leah a completely romantic letter which was delivered to her room before she stepped into her dress.  I don’t know what it said, but he was able to draw out every emotion within her – from laughter to tears.  Swooon…

There’s just something about this picture that makes me hear salsa music in my head when I look at it!  Soooo fun!
