Here are some shots from last night’s short and chilly, yet fun photo session at the beach.

I am… a night owl.

I want… to be an early bird.

I have… a blister on my heel from dancing last night.

I keep… a journal to each of my children.

I wish I could… speak eloquently.

I hate… regrets.

I fear… being misunderstood.

I hear… the ticking of the clock on the wall, beside me.

I don’t think… it was ever a good thing to put a 2″ high heel on a tennis shoe, who wore those anyway?

I regret… not speaking my mind.

I love… sweaters in autumn time, kisses on my forehead, afternoon strolls, sitting by firelight.

I am not… one to follow trends.

I dance… with my kids when the music is turned up loud.

I sing… to my babies every night.

I never… turn down dessert.

I rarely… watch TV.

I cry when I watch… lovers saying goodbye at the airport.

I am not always… the best at remembering the punch line, so I seldom tell jokes.

I hate that… there is not a self-cleaning option on my toilet like there is on my oven.

I need… to start an on-going list of things I’m thankful for.

I should…get off this computer and start preparing for our afternoon guests.

So what do a bunch of country-bumpkins do on a quiet evening, after all the chores have been finished???

Why… we swing from trees… what else?

Photo Editing Madness

I’ve been trying my hand at applying borders.  I’m not quite sure… what do you think… do they add to, or take away from the picture???  Do you think these borders give the pictures a visual interest, or am I just getting too carried away for my own good?  I can tend to get obsessive at times.

I’d love to hear what you think!  I always love to hear from you!

Fun Family Photo Shoot

Filed under: Photo Sessions, Photography — Tags: — candid reflections @ 9:16 am

Yesterday, I met with this great family for a photo shoot at the park.  Let me tell you, we had a super fun time!  We joked around, climbed some trails, swung from trees, had a foot race, there was even a water fight!  We did it all, I tell ya!  Thanks for the fun time guys!

Young Love

What do you do with a runaway bride???

Well, you catch her and you drag her to the alter, of course!

And when you’ve persuaded her to tie the knot, don’t be surprised if she starts tugging on yours.

Not to worry!  Once you’ve made her your Mrs… you can have your cake and eat it too!

Simply Me…at the moment.

Filed under: Everything Else — candid reflections @ 12:38 pm

Peggy over at The Simple Woman hosts a weekly post called The Simple Woman’s Daybook – a fun way to share a glimpse into your everyday thoughts and plans.  I found the idea inspiring and decided to join in the fun.

FOR TODAY, September 11, 2008…

Outside My Window…the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the leaves are just beginning to turn

I am thinking…I should be kicking back in a hammock with a good book right now

I am thankful for…my journey, forgiveness, a future

From the kitchen…we’re having tacos tonight

I am wearing…a chocolate brown, short sleeve shirt, khaki Capri’s, and some slip-on shoes

I am creating…a logo for my photog business

I am going…to greet my man at the door with a kiss when he gets home

I am readingThe Well Educated Mind, Susan Wise Bauer

I am hoping…I win that drawing I entered for free gasoline

I am hearingWill Ackerman – Returning

Around the house…there’s a kid in every room, where do I go to hide???

One of my favorite things…is snuggling

On the Television Screen

Filed under: On the Nightstand — candid reflections @ 4:51 am

Highly recommended (with some discretion for the younger audience):

John Adams (HBO Miniseries)

We’ve recently studied the American Revolution, and I must say, this video series is becoming the grand finale to our study.  There is something quite exciting about seeing the very accounts that we studied and read about come to life on the screen.  The dedication and conviction of this country’s founding forefathers has been truly appreciated while being read about, and deeply heart felt as we’ve viewed this reenactment of such an awesome and defining time in history.

So, what do you think of the new look?

I was thinking the dark background helps the pictures stand out, also a little easier on the eyes (not so bright.)  It kind of has a masculine feel to me not that that’s bad… maybe I should put a picture of a flower at the top though, instead of those rocks?

I’m still tweaking it… I’d love to hear your impression.

A Little Boost of Confidence

Filed under: Everything Else, Homeschool — Tags: — candid reflections @ 2:12 pm

Every hero has it- a specific conduit to his source of strength; for Samson, it was his own long hair, Popeye ate spinach, and Batman put on a fancy cape.

Well, I’m happy to announce that I’ve found the spur which nudges and stirs notions of strength and virility within my three little fellas.

I’m so glad I’ve finally found it; the spinach for my little Popeyes… the capes for my little supermen… the stimulation they need to stand up straight and conquer the world.

And to think I hold such life giving power at the tips of my fingers…

Just look at them, they’re bursting with confidence… in their minds, there’s nothing they can’t conquer.  Notice that little twerp kissing his muscles!

School starts tomorrow.  I’m thinking, instead of stickers and bonus points, I’m going to carry around a pair of sheering scissors and a comb on my clip-board.  When they come across that math equation that seems near impossible, or the paragraph that they claim is just not within them, then out will come the clippers and Wha-lah!, instant confidence …the heros will emerge and the school work will be completed without the shedding of a single tear!  Why didn’t I think of this sooner???

School is gonna be a breeze this year! …either that, or my kids are gonna look like they picked up a case of mange.
