Climbing Diamond Head

Diamond Head is the name of a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian Island of O’ahu, Hawaiians call it Lēʻahi. Its English name was given by British sailors in the 19th century, who mistook calcite crystals embedded in the rock for diamonds.  This is what it looks like from the parking lot: 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and this is what it looked like three days later, from seat 38A on a 767 jet, through the tear in my eye…I wasn’t ready to leave!

 through tunnels,
