  1. i have been a faithful reader of your blog for quite awile now, i love your photograpy and everything about your blog, you’re a very inpiring/creative person!! i have an odd request…do your kitchen countertops happen to be either granite or silestone? my husband and i are in the process of picking out finishes for our home build and your countertop looks a lot like a silestone choice we are debating on. anyway, without getting into too much detail, if you happen to know the specifics of your countertop, i would greatly appreciate you sharing it with me…thanks! oh and the applesauce looks scrumptious, as well as all the other goodies you make!

  2. Hi Jen, so glad to have you stop by!
Yes, our countertops are Silestone, great stuff! We’re quite happy with them, the only problem we have experienced was within the first year after installation- I had been running a load of dishes in the dishwasher, and during the sanitize cycle, we heard a loud “POP” sound and discovered that the heat/steam of the dishwasher had caused the countertop above to crack. Had we not been there at the moment, however, we probably would be oblivious to the crack, as it is barely noticeable. Other than that, completely satisfied here! I don’t remember what mine are… Kalahari or Kona Beige.
Congratulations on building your new home! Such an exciting adventure… quite overwhelming at times, yet soooo worth it! When we were building our home I remember feeling like it would never be done, and here I am a few years later -ready to repaint the interior! Ha!
Best wishes on the completion of your new home… and Merry Christmas! ~Michelle

  3. oh thank you so very much for confirming that…i was thinking they were the kona beige color/pattern. it’s just so darn hard to pick one out based on a 4″x4″ sample! i had just read on a forum about someone else having that same problem, theirs also cracked in the section above the dishwasher. that concerns me a bit! thanks for your encouragement on the building of our new home, it has been a fun/learning process planning all the details so far, i’m sure the overwhelming part comes once construction begins! i’m a paint-a-holic, so i can 100% relate to your painting desire. :))
well, thank you so much for sharing and you also have a very merry christmas!
